Eclipse platform helps European hedge funds scale operations
Eclipse is a cloud-native platform that unifies portfolio management, trading, operations, accounting and reporting for European hedge funds.
Eclipse, a cloud-native investment management platform, is being used by European hedge funds to combine portfolio management, trading, operations, accounting and reporting into a single system to reduce system sprawl and centralize data and workflows.
The platform can be deployed as a complete front-to-back solution or in modules so managers can modernize in stages. A role-based interface is intended to speed user adoption across investment and operations teams. Eclipse supports multiple asset types within one system, allowing trading and accounting for equities, fixed income, derivatives and other instruments without separate ledgers.
SS&C presents Eclipse’s cloud-native architecture as a way to scale computing and storage without maintaining multiple on-premises systems. The vendor also highlights an interface designed to shorten training time and keep trading, accounting and reporting processes within the same technology environment.
Over the past 12 months, the platform’s modelling capabilities were expanded to handle complex subscription workflows with greater accuracy. The firm has increased investment in managed services that provide clients with operational specialists to run and scale processes on the platform and to support day-to-day operations.
Clients using Eclipse in 2025 and 2026 relied on consolidated workflows to respond more quickly to market moves and to implement strategy changes. With centralized data across the investment lifecycle, managers were able to spot discrepancies earlier, make decisions faster and make operational adjustments without transferring data across disconnected systems.
European hedge funds face rising regulatory requirements, pressure to scale without adding headcount and demands for improved operational efficiency. Users and developers cite automation of routine tasks, centralized data and standardized workflows as measures that reduce operational risk and make compliance processes more manageable. Those features are intended to reduce time spent on manual reconciliation and data preparation so staff can focus on investment decisions and client service.
Nick Nolan, Senior Managing Director and Head of Alternative Solutions at SS&C, described Eclipse as a single solution that streamlines operations and reduces day-to-day friction across the investment process, and said the platform gives firms greater visibility and control to support quicker decision-making and execution.
Nolan oversees product strategy, innovation and execution for alternative investment managers. He joined SS&C in 2011 after roles in sales engineering and product development, and previously worked in collateral risk management at Fidelity Investments. He is a graduate of Columbia University.
