Druckenmiller Backs TradeXYZ’s U.S. Crypto Futures Push

Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller invested in tradeXYZ, which is working with ICE to offer crypto-style perpetual futures in regulated U.S. markets.

Billionaire hedge fund investor Stanley Druckenmiller has invested in tradeXYZ, a trading platform working with Intercontinental Exchange to introduce crypto-style perpetual futures in regulated U.S. markets.

TradeXYZ is seeking to bring round-the-clock trading in leveraged derivatives to the United States. The contracts are expected to track equities, cryptocurrencies and other assets.

Unlike traditional futures, perpetual contracts have no fixed expiration or settlement date. Traders can keep positions open indefinitely. Leverage allows them to control larger positions with less capital, which can increase both gains and losses.

Druckenmiller confirmed the investment, which was made through his family office, Duquesne Capital. The amount and other terms were not disclosed. Druckenmiller previously managed George Soros’ Quantum Fund.

TradeXYZ also has a partnership with Hyperliquid, an offshore cryptocurrency derivatives exchange. Its partnership with ICE comes as established derivatives operators and newer trading platforms compete to offer continuous access to leveraged markets.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has permitted several operators to introduce perpetual contracts in 2026. CME Group has challenged the regulatory changes in court, disputing efforts to offer the products in U.S. markets.

Supporters of perpetual futures cite their trading flexibility and potential to improve liquidity. Critics have warned that high leverage can increase losses for retail investors and add risks to the financial system.
