Corsair Shares Surge After CORSAIR PRO AI Workstations Debut
Corsair shares jumped about 30% after unveiling CORSAIR PRO AI workstations on May 22. Management expects Q2 revenue near $354 million and a full-year revenue decline of about 5%.
Corsair Gaming’s stock rose more than 30% on Thursday after the company introduced CORSAIR PRO, a new line of AI workstations and servers, during a May 22 product announcement.
CORSAIR PRO systems use Nvidia processors and come pre-loaded with software stacks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, Docker and Kubernetes. The products target businesses that want to run AI models on their own equipment rather than in public cloud environments.
Chief Executive Thi La described the shift as positioning Corsair to ‘capture higher-value system opportunities in AI compute.’ The stock had gained sharply earlier in the week, at times doubling from levels seen at the start of February, and now trades at nearly three times its February price.
Market metrics show a forward price-to-earnings ratio near 18 and short interest around 13% of the float.
Corsair reported a strong first quarter for its Gaming Components and Systems segment, which generated $231.2 million in revenue. Management projects second-quarter revenue of roughly $354 million and expects full-year revenue to decline by about 5%.
Company officials warned investors that semiconductor supply constraints are likely to continue and that normalization may not occur until about 2027, a factor that could affect availability of the high-performance chips used in AI workstations.
Corsair will enter a market where established vendors already sell AI infrastructure. Dell Technologies, HP Inc. and Super Micro Computer, along with specialist suppliers, have existing enterprise relationships and larger data center footprints. Corsair’s strengths include cooling technology and a partnership with Nvidia; the company does not yet have an established track record in enterprise AI systems.
Analysts say the current valuation reflects expectations for successful execution in the new product category and that recurring sales from CORSAIR PRO will be important to support those expectations. Corsair is scheduled to report second-quarter results on July 30, when the company is expected to provide updated revenue figures and any early sales data for CORSAIR PRO.
