Commonwealth Bank of Australia has appointed new technology chiefs to lead its engineering, platform and operational technology teams across its national operations and group businesses.

The executives will be responsible for the bank’s technology strategy and delivery, managing teams that handle software engineering, platform services, cloud and infrastructure, and daily technology operations.

Their duties include prioritising technology projects, improving platform reliability and advancing engineering practices across retail, business and institutional banking channels. They will oversee platform engineering, application development and operational technology support and will coordinate work with product and customer teams to align technology delivery with customer-facing services.

The appointees will report to Commonwealth Bank’s executive leadership and will work with the bank’s risk, security and compliance teams to ensure technology initiatives meet regulatory and operational requirements. They will also manage vendor relationships and internal delivery squads that support day-to-day banking services.

The roles include responsibility for multi-year programs and platform upgrades while maintaining service availability as new products and features are introduced.

The bank said the changes are intended to consolidate leadership across its technology organisation to support maintenance and development of digital channels and core systems. Commonwealth Bank is one of Australia’s largest financial institutions and has expanded its digital offerings in recent years.
