Claude for Financial Advisors Launches with Schwab Connector
Anthropic launched Claude for Financial Advisors, linking 11 wealth firms and tech providers with Charles Schwab as the sole custodian partner; RIAs will decide on adoption.
Anthropic last week introduced Claude for Financial Advisors, a set of AI connectors and workflow tools that links 11 wealth and asset management firms and technology providers. Charles Schwab is the only custodian listed among the partners. The product is designed to connect custodians, portfolio-management systems, CRMs, planning and meeting tools into a single desktop interface to reduce administrative work for advisors.
The company announced the suite at a major wealth-management conference and discussed it on a panel at the Future Proof event. Anthropic described Claude as an “AI orchestrator” that can surface meeting preparation, follow-up notes, rebalance reviews, estate and tax briefs and compliance checks by connecting to systems advisors already use. Named collaborators include Vanguard, BlackRock, Envestnet, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond and Addepar.
Alison Dooher, head of AI for Schwab Advisor Services, described the project as focused on freeing advisor time so they can “be more present in the moment with their clients” and on consolidating disparate tools into one desktop. Schwab said it plans to make its Claude connector available in the fourth quarter and will provide more launch details at its IMPACT conference next month. Firms that opt in will activate the connector at the firm level, control which users can access it, and mask personal data such as account numbers, Social Security numbers and dates of birth. Schwab added that the agreement includes language barring the models from training on client data.
Anthropic will bill advisors through its own licensing arrangements rather than through Schwab. Peter Nolan, Anthropic’s head of asset and wealth management, wrote that the typical advisor spends about one-sixth of their time with clients and that reducing routine tasks could increase access to advice.
Responses from advisory firms were mixed. Some technology leaders noted similar features exist across advisor platforms and questioned whether a new layer can support firm-level workflows. Brian Green, chief product officer at Merit Financial Advisors, called the suite “more evolutionary than revolutionary” and flagged the challenge of moving beyond data aggregation to support firm-specific processes. Merit’s CEO Rick Kent and president Kay Lynn Mayhue described a long-term strategy of avoiding dependence on a single vendor and choosing tools that work within their desktop ecosystem.
Other providers highlighted their own AI work. Dynasty Financial Partners announced an AI operating system for advisors built with Claude models and said more than 750 advisors in its network will have access to book-level AI features. Leslie Norman, Dynasty’s chief technology officer, noted longstanding data access issues for wealth managers and expects momentum as more platforms come online. LPL Financial reiterated its collaboration with Anthropic and described its flagship AI agent as combining Claude integrations with extra compliance and regulatory controls. Pershing’s parent BNY reported prior AI investment and plans to add capabilities into advisor platforms. Raymond James pointed to an annual $1.1 billion technology budget and expanded work with a major cloud provider. Fidelity declined to comment; its investment arm previously co-led a large Anthropic funding round.
Advisors are expected to judge Claude on concrete outcomes such as reduced manual data entry, faster meeting preparation, cleaner compliance workflows and the ability to limit vendor sprawl. Mazi Bahadori of Altruist said his firm focuses on tools that reduce the number of subscriptions advisors need. Other providers cautioned that adding another integration could increase desktop clutter unless the suite replaces multiple point solutions.
Adoption will depend on how well Claude integrates with varied advisor workflows, the level of control firms retain over data and whether the suite produces measurable time savings in everyday practice. Anthropic and its partners have presented the release as a way to automate routine tasks; advisory firms will now test the connectors in live settings.
