Brevan Howard sees senior departures from commodities team

Elycia Sherman left Brevan Howard’s commodities team in 2025. In March 2026 Kobi Platt joined Bridgewater, Robert Alpen returned to Englehart and Jeff Nietschmann moved to Castleton.

Brevan Howard has lost several senior figures from its commodities investment team. Former global head of commodities Elycia Sherman left during 2025. In March 2026 three investment professionals departed: Kobi Platt joined Bridgewater Associates, Switzerland-based natural gas trader Robert Alpen returned to Englehart, and US portfolio manager Jeff Nietschmann took a role at Castleton Commodities International.

Sherman was hired in November 2023 from Hartree Partners to lead a rebuild of the firm’s commodities platform and to assemble a dedicated investment team with an anticipated allocation of about $750 million. Her exit in 2025 had not been publicly disclosed until recently.

The three March 2026 departures joined Brevan Howard after Sherman’s arrival. Platt and Alpen were recruited in May 2024. Nietschmann, who previously worked at Millennium Management, joined the firm in November 2024.

Brevan Howard has operated an active commodities business since Sherman’s hiring. These personnel changes have reduced the number of senior managers who were part of the post-2023 expansion.

The firm continues to run commodities strategies.
