Brevan Howard to Open Office in Greenwich, Connecticut

Brevan Howard plans to open an office in Greenwich, Connecticut, in the first half of next year. The location will be the firm’s fourth U.S. office.

The European-based, macro-focused hedge fund manages about $35 billion in assets. Brevan Howard currently operates in New York and Austin and has a Miami office scheduled to launch later this year. The firm also has staff in London, Jersey and Geneva.

Greenwich and the surrounding Fairfield County area host a number of investment firms and hedge funds. Nearby investors include AQR and Verition in Greenwich, Bridgewater Associates in Westport, and Point72 and Viking Global in Stamford. The new office places Brevan Howard within that regional cluster of asset managers.

The firm has not established an office in Athens despite public speculation about Greece’s efforts to attract hedge fund businesses and wealthy investment professionals.

No further details have been released about the planned Greenwich office’s size, staffing levels or exact address.

The planned opening follows a broader pattern of international hedge funds expanding physical operations in U.S. financial centers and suburban Connecticut.
