Bloomberg Classifies Base as a Scalable Crypto Network

Bloomberg has added Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, to its classification for scalable crypto asset exposure.

Bloomberg has added Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, to its scalable crypto asset exposure classification framework. The listing gives Base a formal category for tracking and analysis.

The classification identifies Base as a blockchain designed to process transactions at higher capacity and lower cost than Ethereum’s main network. Bloomberg users can view Base alongside other crypto assets linked to blockchain scalability.

Base is built on Ethereum and uses Optimism’s OP Stack. The network processes transactions outside Ethereum’s main chain before recording settlement data on Ethereum.

Bloomberg’s framework groups crypto assets by their use cases and network characteristics. The addition allows market participants to compare Base with other blockchain projects focused on transaction capacity and infrastructure.
