Blik completes first agent-authorized payment

Poland’s Blik ran its first agent-authorized payment after an AI agent bought a hand cream for PLN 19.99 with user approval via a six-digit Blik code and banking app confirmation.

Poland’s mobile payment network Blik completed its first agent-authorized payment during a pilot in which an AI agent bought a light hand cream with coconut and almond fragrance for PLN 19.99. The agent had been authorised by a customer to monitor that specific product variant and to buy it once it returned to stock.

The pilot took place in the Your KAYA online store, where an AI assistant provided a chat interface. The user specified the product in the chat and set payment consent in their banking app, defining the conditions under which the agent could act. When the item became available, the agent completed checkout and executed the payment.

The final step required the user to enter a six-digit Blik code and approve the transaction inside their banking app, so the payment could not be completed without explicit confirmation. Juo supplied the AI chat feature for the store and PayU handled payment processing.

Blik said the functionality provides a payment layer for agent-driven shopping while keeping user control over approvals. Monika Król, vice president of Blik, commented: ‘The market is seeing a growing number of solutions capable of finding products, comparing offers and recommending the best way to buy. Until now, payment has been the missing element in this process. Our solution completes the model: an agent can take over the entire purchasing journey, from monitoring an offer to finalising the transaction with Blik. However, it operates exclusively within boundaries previously defined by the user and cannot complete a transaction without the user’s prior authorisation.’
