BlackRock, National Bank and CIBC Top Canadian ETF Awards
BlackRock Asset Management Canada, National Bank Capital Markets and CIBC Mellon took multiple awards at the fourth ETF Express Canadian Awards at the Toronto Stock Exchange on May 28.
The Toronto Stock Exchange hosted the fourth annual ETF Express Canadian Awards after market close on May 28. The ceremony recognized issuers and service providers across Canada’s exchange-traded fund industry.
National Bank, Capital Markets, won Best Overall ETF Liquidity Provider/Market Maker in Canada, Best Market Maker/Authorised Participant — Equity ETFs, Best Capital Markets Team and Best ETF Research Provider. CIBC Mellon received awards for Best ETF Custodian, Best ETF Back Office Technology Provider, Best ETF Middle Office Technology Provider and Best Overall ETF Administrator.
BlackRock Asset Management Canada won issuer awards across equity and fixed income categories. Its wins included Best Active ETF Issuer ($5bn+); Best Commodity ETF Issuer ($100m+); Best Emerging Markets Equity ETF Issuer ($1bn+); Best ESG Equity ETF Issuer ($1bn+); Best International Equity ETF Issuer ($5bn+); Best U.S. Equity ETF Issuer ($10bn+); Best ESG Fixed Income ETF Issuer ($100m+); Best International Fixed Income ETF Issuer ($1bn+); Best U.S. Fixed Income ETF Issuer ($100m+); Best Mixed-Allocation ETF Issuer ($1bn+); Best Canadian Equity ETF Issuer ($5bn+); and Best Canadian Fixed Income ETF Issuer ($5bn+).
MSCI was named Best Index Provider across several segments, including equity, commodity, ESG and emerging markets, and FTSE Russell won Best Index Provider — Fixed Income ETFs. CIBC Global Asset Management was awarded Most Innovative ETF Issuer and won Best International Equity ETF Issuer ($100m-$1bn) and Best U.S. Equity ETF Issuer ($100m-$1bn). Global X won Best Leveraged & Inverse ETF Issuer ($100m+) and Best International Equity ETF Issuer ($1bn-$5bn). Other issuer and provider winners included BMO Global Asset Management, Mackenzie Investments, PIMCO, CI Global Asset Management, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and Wealthsimple. Borden Ladner Gervais received awards for legal and regulatory advisory work. Wealthsimple was named Best Retail ETF Broker and Best ETF Platform in Canada.
The awards covered issuer, market-making, custody, index, administration, technology and distribution categories. Issuer data for the awards were provided by Trackinsight. Organizers said the event aims to recognize firms that support ETF investors and the infrastructure needed to list, trade and manage exchange-traded funds in Canada.
