BlackRock, National Bank and CIBC Mellon Top ETF Awards
On May 28, 2026 at the Toronto Stock Exchange, BlackRock, National Bank and CIBC Mellon were top winners at the ETF Express Canadian Awards.
The fourth annual ETF Express Canadian Awards took place on May 28, 2026 at the Toronto Stock Exchange. The awards ceremony followed the market close and recognized issuers, index providers and service firms active in Canada’s ETF market.
Organizers used issuer data provided by Trackinsight to determine winners across issuer size bands, asset classes and service-provider categories.
National Bank, Capital Markets won several capital markets and market-making prizes, taking Best Overall ETF Liquidity Provider/Market Maker in Canada, Best Market Maker/Authorised Participant — Equity ETFs in Canada, Best Capital Markets Team in Canada and Best ETF Research Provider in Canada. Legal and compliance honors went to Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, which was named Best ETF Law Firm and Best ETF Regulatory/Compliance Adviser in Canada.
CIBC Mellon was recognized in custody and operations categories, receiving Best ETF Custodian in Canada, Best ETF Back Office Tech Provider in Canada, Best ETF Middle Office Tech Provider in Canada and Best Overall ETF Administrator in Canada.
BlackRock Asset Management Canada Ltd led issuer awards across a range of asset classes and size bands. The firm was named Best Active ETF Issuer ($5bn+); Best Commodity ETF Issuer ($100m+); Best Emerging Markets Equity ETF Issuer ($1bn+); Best ESG Equity ETF Issuer ($1bn+); Best International Equity ETF Issuer ($5bn+); Best US Equity ETF Issuer ($10bn+); Best ESG Fixed Income ETF Issuer ($100m+); Best International Fixed Income ETF Issuer ($1bn+); Best US Fixed Income ETF Issuer ($100m+); Best Mixed-Allocation ETF Issuer ($1bn+); Best Canadian Equity ETF Issuer ($5bn+); and Best Canadian Fixed Income ETF Issuer ($5bn+).
Index provider MSCI was named Best Canadian Index Overall Provider and won multiple index-provider categories for equity, commodity, ESG and emerging markets indices used by ETFs in Canada. CIBC Global Asset Management received the Most Innovative ETF Issuer prize and awards in the $100m–$1bn band for international and U.S. equity issuers. Global X won Best Leveraged & Inverse ETF Issuer ($100m+) and Best International Equity ETF Issuer ($1bn–$5bn). Other issuer winners included BMO Global Asset Management for Best Mixed-Allocation ETF Issuer ($100m–$1bn), Mackenzie Investments for Best Canadian Equity ETF Issuer ($1bn–$5bn), PIMCO for Best Active ETF Issuer ($100m–$1bn), CI Global Asset Management for Best Emerging Markets Equity ETF Issuer ($100m–$1bn) and Wealthsimple, which was named Best Retail ETF Broker in Canada and Best ETF Platform in Canada.
The awards cover issuers, index providers, custodians, technology vendors, legal advisers and broker-dealers, with categories split by asset class and issuer size. Organizers used industry data to select winners across the Canadian ETF ecosystem.
