BlackRock launches iShares World Thematic Rotation ETF

BlackRock launched the iShares World Thematic Rotation Active UCITS ETF (THRW), an active global equity ETF that ranks and rotates short-, medium- and long-term themes and holds about 200–300 stocks.
BlackRock has launched the iShares World Thematic Rotation Active UCITS ETF (THRW). The fund is an actively managed global equity ETF that identifies, ranks and rotates market themes across different time horizons and maintains roughly 200–300 holdings updated regularly.

BlackRock describes the ETF as an all-in-one thematic equity solution that combines theme selection, timing and portfolio management in a single allocation. The firm says the strategy moves capital into themes it identifies as growing and reduces exposure to themes it considers fading.
The strategy scores and rotates themes on short-, medium- and long-term horizons rather than following a fixed list of names. Portfolio adjustments are made to reflect changes in market leadership across those horizons, with the target universe kept broadly diversified across regions and sectors.
The launch follows analysis from the BlackRock Investment Institute that global equity returns are becoming more dispersed and that returns are increasingly driven by a small set of dominant forces. The institute highlighted a need for more active portfolio repositioning as leadership shifts over different time frames.
BlackRock projects active ETF assets could reach about $4 trillion globally by 2030. The firm expects the share of systematic strategies within active equity to rise from about 11 percent in 2024 to roughly 15 percent by 2030. Adam Riley, Head of International Wealth for BlackRock Systematic, described systematic investing as accelerating across Europe and as part of a ‘Next Gen Active’ barbell that combines outcome-focused strategies with low-tracking-error building blocks.
THRW is offered as a UCITS ETF, a regulated European fund wrapper designed to simplify cross-border distribution. BlackRock positions the product as a way to access automated theme selection and rotation inside an ETF structure, combining active decision-making with ETF transparency and tradability.
