BitGo acquires NYDIG institutional trading unit

BitGo has completed the acquisition of NYDIG’s institutional trading business, adding about 30 employees and NYDIG’s institutional trading client relationships.

BitGo Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BTGO) said it completed the purchase of NYDIG’s institutional trading business and related assets. The transaction transferred NYDIG’s trading client relationships and roughly 30 employees to BitGo.

The acquired business served asset managers, hedge funds, corporates, family offices and other professional market participants. Services and capabilities moving to BitGo include derivatives trading, structured products, financing and capital markets solutions for institutional counterparties.

NYDIG will redirect resources to its vertically integrated power generation, bitcoin mining and high-performance computing (HPC) data center development operations. The company reported a development pipeline exceeding 3 GW, with more than 1 GW expected to be deliverable in 2027 and 2028.

BitGo said the addition will expand its financing and derivatives capabilities and complement its regulated custody, settlement and wallet infrastructure. The company also expects the acquisition to support higher retention of assets on platform (AOP).

Mike Belshe, BitGo’s CEO and co-founder, described the deal as scaling the company’s trading and infrastructure capabilities while adding an experienced team that serves institutional clients. Pete Janney, BitGo’s head of financial infrastructure, added that institutional trading clients will gain access to BitGo’s wider platform and resources and that the acquired team will continue to provide execution and solutions under BitGo’s regulatory framework.

Tejas Shah, NYDIG’s CEO, noted the trading business aligns with BitGo’s infrastructure and that NYDIG will focus on its HPC and mining projects going forward. The firms said the transition aims to preserve client service and continuity for the trading franchise.

The transaction reflects continued interest from institutional investors in integrated digital asset services that combine custody, trading, financing, settlement and capital markets access within a single regulated provider.
