Bitcoin funds $982M outflows; XRP, Solana draw inflows

Digital asset funds posted $1.07 billion in outflows in the week to May 18 as bitcoin products lost $982 million; XRP drew $67.6 million and Solana $55.1 million, CoinShares reported.

Digital asset investment products recorded $1.07 billion in outflows in the week ending May 18, CoinShares reported. Renewed Iran-related tensions coincided with heavy withdrawals from Bitcoin products, which accounted for $982 million of the week’s outflows.

Total assets under management fell to $157 billion from $159 billion the prior week. Eleven individual tokens posted inflows above $1 million. Progress on the CLARITY Act corresponded with $174 million of positive flows on Thursday.

Bitcoin investment products now show $3.9 billion in net inflows year-to-date after the latest withdrawals. Ethereum products recorded $249 million in outflows, the largest weekly decline for that token since January 30.

Several altcoins attracted fresh capital. XRP funds took in $67.6 million and Solana funds $55.1 million. Smaller inflows included Ton at $7.7 million, Sui $4.7 million, Ondo $4.1 million, Chainlink $3.9 million and Dogecoin $3.2 million.

Regionally, U.S. products accounted for $1.14 billion of the week’s outflows. European markets recorded net inflows, with Switzerland at $22.8 million, Germany $22.0 million and the Netherlands $7.5 million. Blockchain equity exchange-traded funds posted $133 million in net outflows for the week.

The CoinShares Bitcoin ETF (BRRR) holds about $427.4 million in assets and carries a 0.25% expense ratio. The CoinShares Altcoins ETF (DIME), an equally weighted product offering exposure to emerging blockchains including Cosmos, Toncoin, Near and Sui, reported $1.7 million in assets and charges a 0.95% fee.

CoinShares cited renewed geopolitical risk tied to developments involving Iran as the primary factor behind the withdrawals. The week was the first negative week in seven for digital asset investment products and represented the third-largest weekly outflow of 2026.
