BBVA and eDreams link banking and travel in Italy, Germany
BBVA and eDreams signed an agreement to integrate travel bookings and selected banking services on their digital platforms in Italy and Germany.
BBVA and online travel agency eDreams signed a strategic agreement to connect digital banking and travel services for customers in Italy and Germany.
The deal will link the firms’ platforms so users can access travel products and banking features within a more integrated digital experience. The integration covers technical connections and commercial coordination in the two markets.
Under the agreement, BBVA will surface travel content and promotions through its digital channels. eDreams will make selected financial and payment options available to its customers as part of the partnership.
Planned features include payments and checkout flows, promotional offers for flights and hotels, and loyalty or reward elements that can be used across both platforms. Consumer-facing options under consideration include preapproved payment choices and co-branded promotions, subject to local rules and product approvals.
Implementation will involve IT integration, joint product development and coordinated marketing, with phased rollouts as systems are connected and regulatory requirements are addressed. In a joint statement, the firms described the arrangement as a commercial collaboration rather than a merger or equity investment.
The companies will need to coordinate on data sharing, consumer protection and compliance with payments and travel regulations in Italy and Germany during the rollout.
BBVA is a Spanish banking group with an international presence and a growing focus on digital services. eDreams is a European online travel agency operating across multiple markets.
Both firms have previously pursued partnerships with third parties to expand services and digital distribution.
