Alipay+ connects to Philippines’ QR Ph network

Philippine Payments Management Inc. and Ant International have linked Alipay+ to QR Ph, allowing international users to pay at QR Ph merchants with their home e-wallets.

Philippine Payments Management Inc. (PPMI) and Ant International have integrated Alipay+ with the Philippines’ national QR payment network, QR Ph. The connection allows users of Alipay+ partner wallets and banking apps to scan QR Ph codes at participating merchants and complete payments using their home apps.

The integration links Alipay+’s global wallet gateway with QR Ph’s domestic QR system. Consumers can use compatible foreign e-wallets to scan existing QR Ph codes at the point of sale, with settlement handled through the linked networks rather than requiring new apps or hardware on the merchant side.

Merchants receive cross-border mobile payments through their current QR Ph codes. PPMI and Ant International said the setup avoids additional equipment or new payment terminals, which can simplify adoption for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ 2025 Report on E-Payments Measurement reported that digital payments accounted for 64.69% of retail transaction volume in the Philippines and that QR Ph transactions grew more than 13-fold in 2025. PPMI said the connection extends the domestic digital payment environment to international payments, aiming to provide a consistent payment experience for merchants and visitors.

Carmelita ‘Melit’ Araneta, general manager of PPMI, commented that QR Ph has advanced interoperable digital payments in the Philippines and that linking with Alipay+ will enable Filipino merchants, especially SMEs, to accept international customers more easily.

Danny Chung, general manager of the Alipay+ Global Growth Center at Ant International, noted the objective is to let customers pay with the mobile app they already use while giving merchants access to a larger pool of international users.

Ant International said Alipay+ is now connected to more than 10 national QR schemes across Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, enabling cross-border wallets to operate on local QR networks.

PPMI and Ant International did not provide specific rollout milestones or transaction volume forecasts tied to the new connectivity.
