ACI Worldwide links payments platform to SWIFT Ledger

ACI Worldwide has integrated its payments platform with SWIFT’s ledger, letting banks and corporate clients using ACI software connect for cross-border messaging and settlement.

ACI Worldwide has completed an integration between its payments platform and SWIFT’s ledger, the company confirmed. The link allows banks and corporate clients using ACI software to connect directly to SWIFT’s distributed ledger for cross-border payment messaging and settlement.

The integration connects ACI’s payment processing systems with SWIFT’s ledger services to provide a single connection point between ACI customers and institutions on the ledger. The setup provides protocol-level connectivity and translation so payments managed on ACI’s platform can be routed to and from the ledger alongside conventional SWIFT messaging.

The work supports both tokenised and traditional payment flows and enables institutions to adopt ledger-based services incrementally while maintaining existing payment operations. Customers can configure routing rules so payment instructions are executed over either conventional SWIFT messaging or the ledger depending on counterparty capability and settlement requirements.

Technically, the integration uses standard application programming interfaces and middleware components to translate between ACI’s internal payment formats and the messaging and settlement models used on SWIFT’s ledger. The integration is available to ACI’s global client base and to counterparties reachable via SWIFT’s ledger through ACI’s normal deployment channels.

ACI expects the integration to reduce the need for multiple direct connections and to improve reconciliation and end-to-end visibility for transactions that touch both correspondent banking networks and ledger-native rails. ACI’s product teams will maintain the interface and provide support through the company’s existing client services structure.

SWIFT has expanded its services in recent years to include APIs and ledger-related interfaces that let market participants experiment with distributed-ledger clearing and settlement alongside existing rails. ACI Worldwide has supplied payments software to banks, processors and corporations and has been adding capabilities for real-time payments and tokenisation. The integration follows industry efforts to bridge legacy payment infrastructure with ledger and token-based solutions while preserving operational continuity for institutions that must support multiple settlement models.
